NRMA welcomes road investment in NSW state budget
The funding includes $3.3 billion earmarked to rebuild road and transport infrastructure damaged in natural disasters and an additional $724 million going to regional through the Regional Roads and Emergency Road Repair funds.
Today’s budget earmarked $59 billion investment in transport infrastructure.
The budget will deliver improved connections across Western Sydney and to Western Sydney Aerotropolis with $1.1billion to complete essential road projects including Elizabeth Drive, Mamre road, and Mulgoa road.
The budget has identified $702 million in traffic infringement revenue this year, increasing to $753 million in the next year through doubling enforcement sites for mobile speed cameras and broadening the use of detection camera technology.
NRMA Spokesperson, Peter Khoury welcomed the Budget.
“This budget is a continuation of the important infrastructure projects that are vital to our economy, and significant investment in Western Sydney and will go a long way towards keeping our state moving,” Mr Khoury said.
“The NRMA has been fighting hard to get regional and greater Sydney councils the funding they need from the State and Federal Governments to maintain their roads to a safe standard – this is critical as we all use these roads.”
This budget also includes $2.8 billion in partnership with the Federal Government over four years for the road safety fund.
